CGCM Rock Radio January 26, 2022
(BEAVER BUZZ)
Last week, in addition to the latest singles, I played songs off numbers 10-6 off my top 10 albums of 2021. Just to catch you up, that was The Dead Deads, Stop Stop!, Unto Others, Amyl and the Sniffers, and Unknown Refuge. This week you’re counting down to numero uno.
Also, seriously have a look at all of the 2021 lists. The CGCM crew pulled together fantastic recommendations across the rock and metal spectrum.
Of course, there are still 12 brand new singles from Girish & the Chronicles, Ghost, The Southern River Band, Fast Eddy, The Suicide Notes, Voodoma, and more.
Hail to the Heroes – Girish & The Chronicles
Good lord, that solo! GATC embodies the sound and the spirit that bred the 80’s glam bands. They are anything but clones, more the next evolution of classic glam (hair metal if you insist).

Call Me Little Sunshine – Ghost
If you were worried that maybe success would tone down the whole satanic schtick, worry no more. This is one evil song, made beautiful as only Ghost can do.

Are you up? – The Southern River Band
Such no fucks given attitude from this Aussie band. I’m very careful comparing any band to Van Halen, but they do have a VH feel: a talented band and off-the-charts legit frontman.

Take a Look – Fast Eddy
Fast Eddy from my stomping grounds here in Denver, Colorado rock big time. I had the pleasure of catching them live, and “Take a Look” sounds just as good in person as over the airwaves. If they’re coming to your town, do yourself a favour and check them out.

Snakes Grin Within – The Suicide Notes
The Suicide Notes hit that sweet spot with their mix of punk, garage rock, and sleaze.

We Are The Lost – Voodoma
These guys are for real, playing atmospheric, goth metal. My co-contributor here at CGCM, Dr. Tardis, clearly loved them too.

Strike Me – Blacktop Mojo
With “Strike Me“, Blacktop Mojo simply keep the killer music coming following their fantastic 2021 eponymous release.

The Ten Thousand – Validor
Traditional heavy metal the way it was meant to be, with swords and fire!
As The World Burns – Tony Martin
The former Black Sabbath singer leans on that familiar sound on this one. But lest you think he’s a one-trick pony, the album is filled with a ton of surprising musical turns. Definitely check it out.
No You Won’t – Split Persona
Split Persona, out of Reno, Nevada, play energetic, modern metal. They just signed with Iron Gate Records and wrapped up a collaboration with 3 Doors Down. Get on Split Persona now!

High on You – The Alive
Hailing from Arkansas in the US, The Alive deal in dirty, sleazy rock and roll, and they do it well.

Bang – Pearlz
Yet another killer band out of Germany. Like the title says, “Bang” is a banger.
