Alter Bridge
Alter Bridge is one of my favourite bands and one that I was really looking forward to. It’s hard to imagine a more talented rock singer than Myles Kennedy. For Sweden Rock, they chose a selection of their harder songs, and although they saved my favourite song “Watch Over You” for their other Swedish show at Gröna Lund, I was still very happy listening to some of their best hits!
Skid Row
Possibly the band I was looking forward to the most, and they rocked! They included many deeper cuts from their first album, which made me extremely happy. With their best singer since Sebastian Bach, Swedish singer Erik Grönwall (formerly of H.E.A.T.), they were able to deliver the raw rock we expect from Skid Row. Unfortunately, bassist Rachel Bolan was unable to play due to a family emergency, but we still got to see original members Scotti Hill and Dave ”The Snake” Sabo.
Ghost
Closing out the festival was Ghost, who always brings an amazing setlist and great onstage interactions. Tobias Forge being the charismatic frontman he is made sure to engage the audience in the last show of the festival.
H.E.A.T.
H.E.A.T. always brings an amazing show, and Kenny never disappoints! Perhaps one of the most energetic frontmen Sweden has to offer, Kenny Leckremo gave it his all for the fans.
Europe
My favourite show of the festival was the Swedish kings themselves, Europe. The setlist had something for everyone and made long-time fans happy with tracks from Wings of Tomorrow such as “Stormwind“, “Seven Doors Hotel” and “Scream of Anger“. Of course, they played all of the hits, and my favourite song to hear live is “Superstitious” so I was very happy!
