TIME TO ROCK 2023 - Brothers Of Metal (Spotlight Blog)

Brothers Of Metal are a Swedish metal band with a Viking image and sing about the Viking mythology. They are an 8-piece band with three guitars, one female and two male vocalists and they dress up like Vikings.

B.O.M. played an early set in the afternoon at Time To Rock Festival in Knislinge, Sweden and they got in the lineup very late as a fill-in for Sham 69 who had to cancel their appearance. For me, this was for the better as I love the two albums they have released so far (Prophecy Of Ragnarök and Emblas Saga). I have only seen them live once before at Sweden Rock Festival a couple of years ago and I remember it as a fun show.

They had some technical issues at the beginning and the sound was not good but after the first song, it was sorted out. The first song was “Death of the God of Light” which starts their first album and was followed by “Prophecy of Ragnarök“, the album’s title. Full on Power Metal attack and the audience was into it from the start.

B.O.M. are a great live band to see, a lot happens on stage and they really seem to enjoy performing. The Talesman Mats who tells tales in between songs looks like a true Viking and drinks Mead or is it water? from his bottle during the set. Ylva, the lead singer, has such a beautiful voice and I rank her as one of the best female singers in Sweden. Her voice fits perfectly together with the warrior voice of Joakim and their songs are very melodic yet powerful.

The three guitar players, Pähr, Mikael, and Dawid handle their axes with perfection and they sound great. The bass player Emil jumps around like a wildman and has a lot of fun. Drummer Johan is solid as a rock.

Their set consisted of 13 songs and the intro. They played two new songs from their forthcoming album, “Berserkir” and “The Other Son of Odin” which are both released on digital platforms. In the slower song “Yggdrasil“, the audience sang loud and it is a really strong and great song.

This was a really great show with lots of smiling faces both from the stage and from the audience and I can’t wait to hear new music soon and hopefully see them on stage again as I enjoyed it so much.
