For the first time in their career, Eclipse visited my hometown Helsingborg and played in a “new” concert venue called Sirocco. It was my first time seeing a concert there and I have to say I liked it. It is a smaller club and there were maybe 200 people in the audience and it felt quite packed so the atmosphere was great.
As it is a small stage they had no support act. At 9.00 pm they entered the stage from a small staircase and began with the song “Roses on Your Grave” and the audience was into it from the start. Smiles everywhere and fists in the air. “Got It” from their last album Megalomanium came next and Erik‘s voice was incredibly good this evening.
The guitarist Magnus Henriksson is in my opinion one of the absolutely best guitar players out of Sweden. He is really cool on stage and the solos are played with melodic perfection. The setlist was great with quite a few songs from Megalomanium and they are all great sing-along songs, like “The Hardest Part Is Losing You“, “Anthem“, “Got It“, “Children of The Night” and the excellent “High Road”. On “High Road” the bass player Victor Crusner sang lead vocals and I was impressed. It sounded really good and a bit rougher than Erik.
For this tour, they have had a stand-in drummer in Robin Nilsson from the sleaze rock band The Cruel Intentions and he beat the shit out of the drums.
They made an acoustic number of “Battlegrounds” with great sing-along from the audience.
It was a fantastic evening with the band and I really hope they will come back to Helsingborg again someday. If you ever get the chance to see Eclipse live, do it!
