Ivan received his first record at 6 years old, and it was one that would naturally set him down a path of hard rock and heavy metal: “I’m a Believer” by The Monkees. Five years later, he got his first Kiss record, Kiss Alive II, and they became his first favourite band (what, not The Monkees?). Fast-forward to high school, and Ivan is witnessing some of the greats at their absolute best. Dio, Aerosmith, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Ozzy Osbourne, Scorpions, Motley Crue, Tiffany, Debbie Gibson, etc…well, maybe not so much those last two. To this day, Ivan loves him all kinds of music. Mostly any genre of metal, but also blues, classic rock, hard rock, dubstep, and polka…well, maybe not so much those last two.
Ivan started listening to the CGCM Podcast and somehow enjoyed the chemistry between Rich and Wally. When he found out they were looking for people to write album reviews for the website, he was all like “Hell yeah” and jumped on that opportunity. When CGCM blossomed into a fully-fledged station, Ivan got his own show, Power Chord, a thrilling show about extension cables…er, I mean, great guitar music. It can be anything from blues rock to heavy metal but if it has amazing licks, riffs, and solos, you’ll hear it on Power Chord! Ivan loves to spotlight new artists as the feeling of discovering a new song or artist makes him feel all kinds of gooey inside, and he wants his listeners to have that same sensation.
