Well, Time To Rock 2025 is underway and what a great day to launch with. The pre-party day, featuring only one stage (of the three) and 6 bands.
**This is my story. My personal journal account of time at the festival, my thoughts and feelings. This is not a technical review of gigs, but more of a story telling my experiences and activities of attending Time To Rock Festival 2025. Hopefully, this will help inspire your attendance in 2026. Feel free to reach out to me with any questions.**
Things were a bit rough for me starting out the trip this year. Apparently, as time passes, I get no smarter….lol. I overdid things a little the day before, July 1st, which is Canada Day, celebrating our nation’s independence. Not only hungover, but I had also caught quite a lot of sun, so sunstroke was playing a factor as well. Trying to pack at home, I was so dizzy and nauseous that I had to sit on the floor in my closet while choosing one of the many black t-shirts. Feeling better after a few minutes, I rose and went to the suitcase. But I was having so much trouble functioning that I couldn’t process what to do with the shirt! So I lay down for a nap.
Now in danger of not making it in time for my flight, I rushed to throw things into the bag. Then I ripped a contact lens while putting it in my eye. No matter, I always have spares, now where did they go? I must have left them in the work Airbnb! Now I have only my approximately four prescriptions old glasses to carry me through Sweden and Time To Rock 2025! Well, good excuse if my photos are super sucky, I guess….lol. Let’s go!
THE MEISTER HAS LANDED!
Arriving in Copenhagen and waiting for Nathan, we missed the first train but loaded up on “travel beers” for the ride at 7/11 and were soon on our way. Arriving at our residence, we were greeted with hugs and smiles as we saw our hosts for the first time in 1 year. The evening was a perfect lead-in to the fest with engaging chat on subjects from music (of course), to life in our respective countries. Drinks flowed, travel beers drained quickly, whiskey appeared…..I knew it was do or die, still “not right”. Before too long, there was even a ping pong game….sort of a round table musical chairs with about 10 of us playing. I was horrificly bad, there’s video🤦🏻♂️. Finally to bed, ready for Friday’s preparty.
PRE-PARTY
The first band at Time To Rock 2025 was Andy And The Rockets. We had a little sample played for us last night and it sounded like decent melodic hard rock. Which is exactly what we got from the stage. Will definitely give a listen when I get home, though. Plus, I was quite excited to be at Time To Rock 2025, so my attention was scattered and probably not as focused on Andy And The Rockets as it should have been.

The next order of business was another festival highlight for me…. Casey’s Fish & Chips! I love this stuff, who knows what addictive chemicals are in the batter🤣. See you again later for a late dinner!
HEAVY PETTIN
Heavy Pettin was next on the list for me. Another anticipated highlight of 2025. Listening to Heavy Pettin for years, I first saw them on MORC (whatever year that was) and they blew it away. They seemed to be about 10 minutes late in getting going, but once they did, the sound was on point. The band ripped through a great setlist with both guitarists quite facially expressive, making for fun photo capturing. And Haymie, vocally sounding as good as ever. Heavy Pettin delivered some fantastic songs in “In And Out Of Love“, “Rock Me” and “Sole Survivor“, but I didn’t hear “Roll Of The Dice“. Not that I expected to, but one can always hope. Great show and an absolute highlight of Friday and the festival in general!

HERE COMES THE RAIN AGAIN…
Attendance this year is, I believe, some 2000 higher than last year, but one guest I can do without is the rain. But it came anyway….and quite heavily by the sounds as I hid in the press tent. Actually doing some work on a previous festival’s photos that I was behind on. With the rain hammering down at points, I missed a couple of bands, though I did hear most of the CCR tribute. During this time, the cold set into me. And the cold here is indescribable once it gets into your bones. Plus, I don’t do well with the cold to start with. Everyone always says, “But you’re from Canada!“. I was literally shivering and my teeth were chattering. But I was holding out for Bullet, tonight’s headliner and an absolute fave band for me.
BULLET
I was super excited for Bullet and they did not let me down. The band of Swedish heavy metal heroes pounded through a supercharged setlist including anthems like “Turn It Up Loud“, “Stay Wild” and “Bite The Bullet“. The guys showcased something from every album and even treated us to a new song, “Kickstarter” from a new album due later in the year. As for the stage show, there was immense and plentiful pyro! Flash bangs and fireworks were only surpassed by huge fireballs billowing up into the air….and damn was it ever hot down in the photo pit for that!
What a fantastic gig from one of my favourite bands. Time To Rock 2025 has launched with a resounding bang (and fireballs). Thank you, Bullet, for keeping rock alive and well. Now, how can I afford to go see you destroy the UK in a couple of months? I’d better get a part-time job🤣.

SATURDAY IS “MEISTER DAY”
Bring on Saturday, the first full day of 2025’s festival! And what a stellar roster of bands. Saturday looks to be “MY” best day with band after band after band that I “NEED” to witness on stages. Thank goodness the effects of sunstroke and hangovers have left me, now if we can just get rid of the rain too…..
