Time To Rock Anticipation #1

With the summer festival season in full swing for CGCM Rock Radio‘s Rich “The Meister” Dillon, he’s really racking up the air miles! On Wednesday, July 3, 2024, it’s back to Sweden for that rock-loving, beer-guzzling, good-natured Canuck! This installment, it’s to Time To Rock Festival in Knislinge!

Time To Rock firmly planted itself in The Meister‘s crosshairs last year with an unbelievable roster of band names! Old faves, never before seens and completely new discoveries made a great music mix! Coupled with the music, of course, the main reason for being there, was the atmosphere. The festival described itself as the “coziest” festival in Sweden. “And it made no sense until I experienced it“, he says.

Welcome to my first blog, basically my general ramblings, regarding the Time To Rock Festival in Knislinge, Sweden. Not that There’s particularly an order or anything, but you should go here next: TIME TO ROCK 2024 – Anticipation #2 (Festival Blog).

I read the directions on the website I think. I can’t seem to see them this year, so maybe I’m looking in the wrong place! But anyway, the directions to arrive at Time To Rock were clear, concise and easy as hell. I’ve seen a few folks comment that the event seems difficult to get to and that is a misnomer perception. Take it from me, I did it last year…..and I don’t speak Swedish or anything. I got off the bus at the stated stop. The street couldn’t have been quieter! It almost seemed that it was out in the country in the middle of nowhere. Which, of course, it kind of is. Pushing aside my bewilderment and considerations that I might have arrived in the wrong place, I set out walking as per the directions.

My walk took me down a street lined with sleepy-looking houses. Well-manicured lawns and so quiet you could hear a leaf hit the ground as it fell from the tree. Was I in some sort of senior community here? It was all so surreal. But true to the word, 10 minutes later I turned right at the next intersection and arrived at Folkets Park, Knislinge. I was in the right place after all. Tents lined the little side street for check-in, ticket registration and wristband collections.

I have arrived! It’s Time To Rock!

…..and now bring on 2024!

Of course, I don’t remember the exact directions ie which train or bus to take from where. Hopefully, I remember at some point🤣. I’d better fire up the ole Google because I’m going back to Time To Rock for my second consecutive year. The event was so amazing on so many different levels in 2023. It rapidly vaulted up to my number one, distancing itself from even Sweden Rock. An event I long supported, but the face of which has changed especially in the last years since Live Nation‘s involvement. Just my personal opinion of course.
