SLEAZY ROXXX – Topless Suicide (Album Review)

Sleazy RoXxX Topless SuicideFrom Prague, the capital city of The Czech Republic, I present to the Decibel Geek readers, glam rockers Sleazy RoXxX. Origins of Sleazy RoXxX span back to late 2009, yet the band was virtually unknown even in their home country. The re-release of their debut full-length, Dangerous Obsession, which had been self-issued in 2013, by record label City of Lights Recordings brought more attention. Even then with the sophomore effort, Topless Suicide being out since September 2016, it took awhile for Sleazy RoXxX to cross my path. The current roster of Sleazy RoXxX sees bassist/founder Jan Vandervell joined by drummer Vinnie Cage, guitarist James Dinner, and frontman Paulie Weston.

Aside from blatantly stating it with their name, the album art is perfectly sleazy as well. Consequently, you’ll find exactly what you expect contained inside.

Topless Suicide rips off the starting line with “Let’s Roll”. The song should get the foot tapping quickly and Weston‘s gravelly, sleazy vocals are a great fit. Unfortunately the track clocks in at under three minutes, short and sweet I suppose. Check the recently unveiled video for “Let’s Roll” below and they have more available on YouTube as well. From there we charge into “Catch the World” which tops the lead song in my books. We find 9 other compositions contained in Topless Suicide and the whole collection plays well all around. Titles such as “Nymphomaniac” and “Dirty Sanchez” (an absolutely thundering track) further drive home the sleaze elements as I’m sure you can figure out the lyrical contents there. Other songs such as “Crystal” or “Galaxy Rider” showcase the more mature writing talents that Sleazy RoXxX posses.

Conclusions

This is glam rock at its best. I love that albums of this genre and character are still being released today. I, however, can’t help but feel sorry for Sleazy RoXxX that they were not around during the peak of the Sunset Strip as they surely would have achieved fame and fortune in those days.
