Sarayasign comes from Örebro in Sweden and they not only bring us fantastic music but also great storytelling about ancient lands, epic battles and redemption. This album is chapter III in the saga and the lineup of the band that tells all this consists of:

Stefan Nykvist – Vocals

Jesper Lindbergh – Drums, Guitars, Keyboards (the founder of the band)

Peter Lundin – Guitars

Daniel Lykkeklev – Bass and Keyboards

Let’s dive into this cinematic and dramatic music that will spellbind the listener for an hour to come and see what we will find.

Worlds Apart (Shadowlands)” – starts with ambient sounds and then kicks into a fantastic melody with powerful vocals from Stefan. It builds up to the great chorus and the bass is pumping on through the song. Amazing guitar solo as it is on every song on the album. Awesome start to the album.

Watching It Burn Away” – It gets a little heavier than the opener, great bass work again and the song builds up to another epic chorus. Heavy guitar riffing and another fantastic guitar solo.

Shades Of Black” – Heavy riffs and powerful vocals and it reminds me a bit of Jorn Lande from his solo albums. With a little progressive touch to the song. Beautiful chorus and, of course, another blending guitar solo. Such great production on this album, too. Every instrument sounds clear in the mix.

Shadows Of The Dying Light” – Very cinematic start of this song with a beautiful piano and Stefan‘s vocals before it kicks into a heavy but very melodic song. The song continues to go between a calmer pace to a heavier pace and the chorus fits the epic song perfectly. Yep, there comes the fantastic solo again. Amazing song.

From Ashes” – This is more straightforward melodic metal with progressive influences and another fantastic guitar solo that plays perfectly with the drums and bass during the solo.

The Wanderer” – This is the second “single” from the album and is an epic ballad-type of song that again starts with beautiful vocals and piano, but the chorus is big and powerful. There are a lot of tempo changes during the song. It gets stronger every time I listen to it. It sounds repetitive to say it, but another amazing solo.

One Last Cry” – This was the first song released before the album and it begins with sounds of bad weather and then it starts with a heavy rhythm, excellent atmosphere, very cinematic and dramatic. I love the piano that plays along in the background and in the breakdowns during the song. Sounds epic. Great guitar solo?? Yep! Amazing song.

The Nameless Ones” –  This song has a more driving beat to it but with a tempo change in the chorus, a bit progressive with great vocals from Stefan and great guitars.

Coming Home” – Starts with that beautiful piano and expressive vocals. This is like a ballad but with a powerful soul to it and the most beautiful melody so far. Halfway through, it builds up to another amazing solo. Fantastic song again. This song will be a killer in the live set if they will play it. We will see.

Walk Alone” –  This is a bit faster than most of the songs on the album. The sound on this album is incredible and the solo part is phenomenal as usual by now.

Bleeding Hope” – Epic song, great tempo and powerful vocals. If you like bands like Myrath, Jorn Lande and Seventh Wonder, you will like this song a lot. Just close your eyes, listen and get swept away into the magic lands of Sarayasign’s music.

Throne Of Gold Part III – The Hidden Portal” – A heavy closer of the album. It’s like the end of an action movie, it starts heavy, then it goes into a faster pace, then a very melodic chorus.

What a fantastic ride it has been listening to this album. It is heavy, dramatic, great played and those guitar solos are astonishing in my opinion. They fit the songs perfectly and Stefan‘s vocals are really strong and powerful. The production is top-notch and the storyline through their three albums are like a real saga that could be transferred into a series or a movie.

I am now really looking forward to seeing them live at Malmö Melodic Festival in Malmö, Sweden, in late July next summer.
