SAMMY HAGAR – MGM Grand Arena (Concert Review)

SAMMY HAGAR - MGM Grand ArenaSammy Hagar brought the Best Of All Worlds Tour to the MGM Grand Arena on August 9th,2024. This is the tour everyone has been talking about, and without a doubt, it is a must-see. Loverboy was the opening act for the evening unfortunately no one had permission to photograph this classic Canadian act. Loverboy played all the classics getting the crowd warmed up for an evening with Sammy Hagar belting out his own hits plus classic Van Halen too.

The Best of All Worlds touring musicians are Sammy Hagar (Vocals), Joe Satriani (Guitars), Michael Anthony (Bass), and Jason Bonham (Drums). Sammy Hagar has brought out some of the world’s best musicians to complete this tour and honour Van Halen.

The band came out firing on all cylinders, they came out to prove that this is a tour to see and it showed they sounded amazing. Sammy Hagar being 76 years old did not show his age as he hit note after note on the classic Van Halen tunes as well as his own. Sammy Hagar was from one side of the stage to the other, dancing, singing and just drinking his Tequila. For a guy this age he is doing pretty good for himself in not slowing down. Then you have Joe Satriani shredding all these amazing guitar solos and parts that are infamous to Eddie Van Halen God bless his soul. RIP Eddie. Joe did an amazing job filling in where once Eddie Van Halen played. Joe also got to show his solo talents with one of his tunes brought into the setlist.

Jason Bonham a beast on drums as expected as his dad was the famous John Bonham. Jason never missed a beat on the classic Van Halen tunes or the Sammy Hagar solo tunes. It was a privilege to see Jason Bonham up on stage with Sammy and the rest of the gang. Michael Anthony was again amazing to watch. Michael brought the beat in the rhythm section and took vocals on the classic VH song “Ain’t Talkin’ About Love” which he nailed. Michael too bounced from side to side on the stage and was looking to love every minute that he was up there. It appeared at the end of the night it was hard for him to leave. Sammy almost had to drag him off the stage.

The band like I mentioned before sounded amazing and seemed to have so much life and love to be performing these classic Van Halen and Sammy Hagar hits. They ran through the VH catalogue from the very beginning to the mid 90’s. They never really slowed down till the VH hit “Why Can’t This Be Love” and “Eagles Fly”  where Sammy Hagar mentioned the loss of 66 people in the flight that crashed in Brazil.  The band then went back to full speed and kicked back into high gear with “Mas Tequila”. They kept their foot on the throttle for the remainder of the show and had the crowd back up dancing and singing. This night was a night to remember the great hits from not only Sammy Hagar with Van Halen but all the great tunes had before in the early years of Van Halen history.
