Restless Spirits is the new and amazing project that is lead by Tony Hernando from Lords Of Black. In this project, he leaves behind the metal for a more Hard Rock direction. With huge melodies, catchy hooks, and choruses accompanied by some really beyond stellar guitar riffs.
The Album
Restless Spirits has an unbelievable array of guest musicians such as Johnny Gioeli (Hardline, Axel Rudy Pell), Deen Castronovo (Revolution Saints, ex-Journey), Dino Jelusic (Animal Drive), Kent Hilli (Perfect Plan), Alessandro Del Vecchio (Hardline) and Diego Valdez (Dream Child). Deen Castronovo does, however, play drums on the whole album.
“Stop Livin’ To Live Online” is the opening tune of this new album and it’s a fantastic start to the album. Johnny Gioeli‘s vocals drive this song to the max. It has a heavy riff and a chorus line to melt into. Simply put, this song is just amazing. “Unbreakable” features the voice of Deen Castronovo on the vocals this time. Yes, it a little more melodic and in the vein of a Revolution Saints tune. “I Remember Your Name” is probably the go-to song of the whole album. With Kent Hilli from Perfect Plan on lead vocals, it is Melodic Hard Rock perfection at its best.
“Calling You” is another great tune. A moody, and more of a rocking song that features Deen Castronovo‘s vocals accented by Hernando‘s flying fingers guitar solo that cannot be expressed into mere words. Alessandro Del Vecchio handles the vocals duties on “You And I” and truly delivers on this one. I cannot forget to make mention of “Lost Time (Not To Be Found Again).” Dino Jelusic does justice on vocals on this one and hits the mark right dead on.
Psycho Thoughts
All being said and done, Frontiers Music and the band deliver a really great album throughout. Tony Hernando surprised even me with this release. He proves to all that other than that metal sound he is known for that he is an extremely gifted musician. With that, we cannot forget to mention all the talent mentioned above that helped make this record the greatness that it is. It is simply stunning from beginning to end. If you love guitars and Melodic Hard Rock bands like Hardline, Revolution Saints or Perfect Plan, then my advice is to add Restless Spirits to your summer shopping list.
