The Swedish AOR/Rock band is releasing their seventh album since their debut in 2007. What a journey it has been and the followers grow in numbers every year. Singer Björn Strid is also the singer in the metal band Soilwork but in TNFO he delivers a very different sound. The influences range from the KISS albums Dynasty and Unmasked to the early TOTO, Rod Stewart in the late 70s, Styx and other early 80’s melodic rock/AOR bands but they have now developed their own sound with amazing results.

The melodies on this album are really catchy and the sound has a rare and analog feel to them like in the old days but with excellent modern production.

We have got three songs before the album release in “Shooting Velvet“, “Way To Spend The Night” and “Give Us The Moon” and they are all great songs and left us wanting for more.

The album starts with a cool intro in “Final Call“, calling out the members to go to their flight. The musicianship is flawless and song after song delivers a great chorus and I think their former guitar player David Andersson who tragically passed away would be really proud of this album too.

TNFO is a brilliant live band and has developed a really cool stage presence and I would love to hear the whole album live. Not a weak song on here. “Shooting Velvet” is the perfect first single. “Like The Beating Of My Heart” and “Melbourne May I?” are faster songs with great choruses and “Miraculous” has a great drive and fantastic guitar solo.

In “Paloma“, Bjorn‘s voice is amazing and it builds up to a brilliant chorus. That song could easily be a soundtrack to a cool 80s series or movie. “Cosmic Tide” starts with a cool drum fill and it is a bit more experimental, almost jazzy.

Give Us The Moon” and “A Paris Point Of View” are two pop/rock songs that have that KISS/ABBA feel to them.

Runaways” is a mid-tempo song with a beautiful keyboard sound that really feels like the early 80’s.

We get another great fast song in “Way To Spend The Night” and the album ends with the epic song “Stewardess, Empress, Hot Mess (And The Captain Of Pain)“. Phew, that is a long title and the song itself is over seven minutes long but what a ride! Fantastic song.

This is an album that will last for a long time with its classic rock sound and fantastic songs with great melodies and solos. I feel like getting up from the sofa and dancing and want to listen to it over and over again.

I will end this review by saying, go out and buy the album, see them at a concert if they come around your neighbourhood! You won’t be disappointed.
