CGCM Rock Radio New Singles – November  17, 2021

(BEAVER BUZZ)

Sorry about missing the regular installment two weeks ago. I took some time off and Buzzsaw Beaver said he had it covered. You get what you pay for with that rodent. As penance, Buzzsaw‘s delivered his biggest load of music yet.

There’s something for everyone here: from fans of the legendary Scorpions to smaller bands that pack a punch—bands like Beastmaker, Kardang, Cherokee, Empire’s End, and Gunpoint Syndicate—to the premier modern rockers like Eclipse, Beast in Black, Striker, and Girish & the Chronicles.

Check out CGCM radio at the top of the hour for all the new shit, and don’t forget to catch the Beaver Buzz radio show where we play nothing but the best new rock and metal.

Bite The Bullet – Eclipse

Bite the Bullet” is such a killer song, at times like a Scoprions song, and at others Iron Maiden. This Swedish band is at the top of their game.

Peacemaker – Scorpions

As if to show Eclipse that their elders still have it, Scorpions released “Peacemaker” around the same time. It’s up-tempo, catchy, and brimming with all the elements of a great Scorps song. This is the best new music I’ve heard from them in a while.

Night Of The Devil Beastmaker

Beastmaker - Night Of The Devil

You have a short horror film and need a kick-ass song for the soundtrack, but you have like weeks to create it from scratch. Your only hope is Trevor William Church’s dormant band Beastmaker. It’s a fantastic metal song and perfect for a horror movie. Somewhere on socials, the band made the most Beastmaker response to a question about how long before recording he wrote it: “I just wrote it a few weeks ago“. What a true metal beast.

Beast in Black - Dark Connection

I loved the last album From Hell With Love, it was a huge contributor to getting me excited about metal again. If you liked it, this track is just a taste of the absolute buffet that is Dark Connection.

We Ain’t Dead Yet – Kardang

Kardang

Ivan premiered the rocker “We Ain’t Dead Yet” on his excellent Power Cord show. Definitely check them out.

Deathwish – Striker

A week or so before releasing the single, Striker stirred up their fanbase with a cryptic message: a tombstone with a 2021 date of death for the band. Fortunately, it was just a pretty effective marketing ploy. The good news is they’re very much alive and “Deathwish” is a fist-raiser.

Night of the WitchFormosa

We can all thank CGCM contributor Sparky for this treat. They sound a bit like Too Fast For Love era Vince Neil, but that could be just the vocals.

Sigourney – Cherokee

Sparky was feeling generous this time around with a second entry: “Sigourney” by Cherokee. The band out of Germany kills it on the epic track with imaginative visuals, haunting vocals, and meaty riffs.

Lovers’ Train – Girish & the Chronicles

It’s no secret that I love India’s GATC, and “Lovers’ Train” points the way to what we might expect from their first release on Frontiers. It has the same genuine rock feel and world-class vocals, with a bit more polish. They’re on tour in Europe now, get out and support killer live metal!

Starbreaker – Wicked Sensation

Not only a great song, but the video is well worth the look. It’s a sci-fi tale that makes no sense but looks extremely cool.

Want to dig into some killer early Iron Maiden style NWOTHM? If that’s a “Hell yeah!“, you’ll love this crew from New York, New York, starting with “Warhound“.

Different Kind Of Pain
– Empires End

This heavy band from Kearney, Nebraska shows that talent can show up from anywhere. I’ll toast this one with a Runza.

Open Your Eyes
Gunpoint Syndicate

The project of multi-instrumentalist Brennan Colbert, Gunpoint Syndicate is good and heavy Sevendust-inspired metal. They’re looking to release the album Hitlist in early 2022.

Midlife Crisis
Rory Lawford

Rory Lawford, a staple of the Saskatoon hard rock scene in cover bands Riff Raff and Powerslave, had his own little midlife crisis and put together a blazing debut album. It’s absolutely worth a spin. For some guys a midlife crisis is making great music, for others, it’s writing about it. Thank God for the former.

Gun & a Crucifix
Evol Walks

Metal bands and sharp political songs have always gone hand-in-hand. Add “Gun & a Crucifix” to that list.
