CGCM Rock Radio New Singles – May 19, 2021
(BEAVER BUZZ)
This week, CGCM starts spinning the much-anticipated debut from KK’s Priest. It’s definitely got a Priest feel and well worth checking out.
Trucker Diablo contributes a new song off the tremendous album, Tail End Of A Hurricane. For those seeking more unique metal, enjoy the intriguing “Before The Devil Knows We’re Dead” by Stone Cold Crows. Love/Hate is back sounding sleazy as ever in the legally required form of Jizzy Pearl’s Love/Hate.
Hellfire Thunderbolt – KK’s Priest
KK Downing‘s opening blast proclaims what this song is all about. Yes, KK can still play and no, it does not stray far from the Judas Priest template. That’s OK by me; I’m not one to make my bands pass a purity test. Tim “Ripper” Owens expertly handles the menacing vocals.
“Hellfire Thunderbolt” is on Sermons of the Sinner, available August 20, 2021.

I Am Still Alive – Trucker Diablo
“I Am Still Alive” is a melodic treat. Ivan reviewed Tail End Of A Hurricane and if he loved it, I guarantee you will too. The whole album is full of excellent songs, with this one among many. File under great pure rock and roll, unless you alphabetize.
“I Am Still Alive” is available on Tail End Of A Hurricane, out now.

Before The Devil Knows We’re Dead – Stone Cold Crows
Unique ideas are harder to come by these days, but the concept behind Stone Cold Crows certainly qualifies. They claim to be a “hard rock/film score-inspired band”. “Before The Devil Knows We’re Dead” weaves the score to a gangster movie with a heavy, blues rocker. The result is a refreshing combination that works well, especially when paired with the video.

Soul Mama – Jizzy Pearl’s Love/Hate
I haven’t kept up with Mr. Pearl very well, but Blackout in the Red Room ranks among my all-time favourites. Put out an album like that and you’ll always get a listen. “Soul Mama” is absolutely worth it. It has the grimey, hair punk feel of the old Love/Hate, with extra helpings of their bluesier side.
