CGCM Rock Radio New Singles – March 31, 2021 (BEAVER BUZZ)

It’s an XL-sized Beaver Buzz this week. There is so much fantastic new music that we had to go big. The Treatment, Maverick, The Dust Coda, Mammoth WVH, The L.A. Maybe, and Unknown Refuge land new music on the CGCM Rock Radio Runway, all from some of the best releases in 2021.

Kabüki, The Ginger Faye Bakers, Gasoline Guns, Heavy Sentence, Motorjesus, Vanity Insanity, and Stone Whiskey might not be as well known but are rocking as hard as anyone. Of course, some legends are dropping new material too, like Alice Cooper, Robin McAuley, and Crobot featuring Frank Bello from Anthrax.

Being this close to April Fool’s day, it’d sure be a shame if a somewhat non-CGCM, but still great song, made it into the rotation.

Wrong Way – The Treatment

Roaring out of England, The Treatment is making a lot of noise right now. “Wrong Way” is no exception following on an earlier Beaver Buzz track, “Rat Race“. The upcoming album is shaping up to be a killer.

Wrong Way” is off Waiting For Good Luck available April 9, 2021.

Falling – Maverick

Another band with a repeat Beaver Buzz track, Maverick‘s “Falling” is one more hard rock gem. The musicianship is outstanding and the solo rips. You will want to pick up this album.

Falling” is off ETHEREALITY  available April 1, 2021.

Camaro – The Ginger Faye Bakers

That bass is such a thick, juicy, and inviting hook to open this enthralling jam. The relentless groove is the backbone of the quirky and rockin’ “Camaro“. I still haven’t quite figured out what the hell the song is about, but Camaro‘s do have an interesting association with Rochester, NY, home of the band.

Camaro” is off the Camaro EP available now.

Hellbreaker – Motorjesus

Motorjesus deliver a punch to the face with “Hellbreaker“. It’s a breakneck rocker, with a short pause for breath in the middle. The gents from Germany sling their classic heavy metal like pros on this one.

Hellbreaker” is off Hellbreaker expected April 9. 2021.

Battle Hymn – Unknown Refuge

Unknown Refuge is among the best young bands going right now. Their debut album From the Darkness is outstanding and “Battle Hymn” is one of the many reasons why. The all-out aural assault from Jack on the guitar is worth the price of admission.

Battle Hymn” is off From the Darkness available now.

Under Wicked Sky – Gasoline Guns

A sleazy, grimy fist pounder, “Under Wicked Sky” is reminiscent of Motörhead. The bass and guitar work from this band from Ukraine are incredible.

Under Wicked Sky” is a stand-alone single.

Age of Fire – Heavy Sentence

Speaking of Motörhead, Heavy Sentence from the UK might be the second coming. Just like the legends, they play rock and roll. It’s gritty, fast, punk attitude all smooshed up in a song.

Age of Fire” is off Bang to Rights, out on May 20, 2021.

Kabüki – Kabüki

Kabüki is a new theatric hard rock band from London who lives up to the grand metal tradition of Maiden, Motörhead, and even Damn Yankees with an eponymous song. It’s a catchy, almost power-pop jam. This band is clearly much more than just their look.

Kabüki” is off Against the Wall, out now.

Social Debris – Alice Cooper

Alice Cooper has thrown away more great creepy rock songs than anyone else has created. “Social Debris” was written by the original Alice Cooper band, but saved from the trash. As is often the case, in this one, the monster is very real.

Social Debris” is off Detroit Stories, available now.

Jimmy 2 Times – The Dust Coda

Jimmy 2 Times” is just one of many fantastic songs on Mojo Skyline. The Dust Coda brew a great up-tempo rock song, full of horns, hooks, and solos. A classic rock song full of surprises and imagination.

Into The Moonlight – Stone Whiskey

I love songs that tell you what they are in the first five seconds. “Into the Moonlight” said “Turn it up!” Bill Spears and Chris Clark are a lethal two-guitar attack.

Into the Moonlight” is off the debut album expected in 2021.

Standing on the Edge – Robin McAuley

If there was such a thing as a music dictionary where you could look up an artist and get an example song, “Standing on the Edge” would be perfect for McAuley, Robin. It revisits the best of MSG with a slightly more modern sound.

Standing on the Edge” is off Standing on the Edge, out now.

Oh Sugar – The L.A. Maybe

In his recent review of Dirty Damn Tricks, CGCM writer extraordinaire Tom Cornell described “Oh Sugar” as “a foot-tapper that has a fine groove on the verses”. I couldn’t describe it any better.

Oh Sugar” is off Dirty Damn Tricks, out now.

Don’t Back Down – Mammoth WVH

Mammoth WVH dropped two singles recently, “Don’t Back Down” and “Think It Over“. Both songs again demonstrate that the younger Van Halen might be one of the greatest gifts Eddie left behind. If there’s any doubt, check out the video.

Don’t Back Down” is off the upcoming Mammoth WVH album available in June.

The End – Vanity Insanity

Swedish sleaze rockers Vanity Insanity follow up their 2017 debut with a new track. “The End” is hopefully more of a beginning. It’s great classic metal full of screams, solos, and fist-pumping.

The End” is a stand-alone single.

Mountain – Crobot (feat. Frank Bello)

Something about this matchup drew me to the song, and I’m glad it did. It’s an epic track, on the roll down the windows and annoy the other drivers level.

Mountain” is off the Rat Child EP, available June 18, 2021.
