CGCM Rock Radio New Singles – January 25, 2021 (BEAVER BUZZ)
Last week Buzzsaw Beaver was “off” as he was kidnapped by Kickin Valentina during a promo that resulted in them controlling the station Friday, January 22, 2021. But now Buzzsaw‘s back and has returned with a bucket full of new tracks for you to kick-off 2021. They are spinning now on CGCM Rock Radio. Make sure you listen for Buzzsaw at the top of the hour to hear which of these fresh tracks the Beav has decided to play.
The Dead Daisies – Holy Ground (Shake the Memory)
We know what we’re going to get with the Dead Daisies: impeccable vocals from the great Glenn Hughes, ripping guitar work from Doug Aldrich, and the pounding rhythm of Deen Castronovo. This song does not disappoint as this supergroup delivers yet another classic.
“Holy Ground (Shake the Memory)” is off the Holy Ground album available later in 2021.
BUY: AMAZON.com / AMAZON.co.uk
Voodoo Circle – Locked & Loaded
Danceable is not an adjective I use a lot in describing hard rock and metal. However, that was exactly my first impression of this high energy rocker, and then the video validated it. “Locked & Loaded” features unique instrumentation and a great arrangement. It’s an anthemic party song for 2021, and I’m all over it.
“Locked & Loaded” is off the album of the same name Locked and Loaded available on January 15.
BUY: AMAZON.ca / AMAZON.com / AMAZON.co.uk
Chez Kane – Too Late for Love
“Too Late for Love” is a melodic rock gem. Kane has the perfect voice to deliver this kind of 80’s style, accessible rock. The song and upcoming album are produced by Danny Rexon of Crazy Lixx. It definitely has a retro sound to it, think Vixen, Lee Aaron, or even Pat Benetar, but with a distinctly modern touch.
“Too Late for Love” is off the upcoming album expected in March.

Wayward Sons – Even up the Score
Looking for a solid melodic rock song with a killer hook and a singable chorus? Might I suggest “Even up the Score“? If this teaser is an indication of what they in store for us on their upcoming album, we’re in for a treat. Wayward Sons are all about good, crisp vocals and adrenalized hard and fast rock. The drumming is amazing and the guitar solo smokes.
“Even up the Score“ is off a new album expected later in 2021.
BUY: AMAZON.com / AMAZON.co.uk
Jax Hollow – High-Class Bitch
Now, this is some kick-ass, rock and roll by an amazing solo artist out of Nashville. “High-Class Bitch” comes at you with all things rock: guitars, drums, and fucking attitude. Brilliant! The vocals are amazing, the riffs and solo are perfect, and the backing band holds it all together. I’m really looking forward to this full-length album.
“High-Class Bitch” is off the Underdog Anthems album available later in 2021.
BUY: AMAZON.com / AMAZON.co.uk
The Suicide Notes – Take a Bullet
Sleazy punk. That’s the M.O. of the Suicide Notes, and “Take a Bullet” fits the description. It’s full-throated, adrenalized, and raw rock and roll.
If you like stripped-down, dirty rock, then I can’t recommend this track or this band enough.

The Swamp Born Assassins – Close the Gate
I really dig songs that create a mood and the Swamp Born Assassins nail it. “Close the Gate” kicks off with a slow, moody intro that sets the eerie tone for what is to come. This is some tasty gothic rock. The keys, backing vocals, and rhythm section create this wonderful tapestry of sound. If I was making a horror movie I’d be all over this song, it just screams to be played during some dark chase scene through the woods surrounding some bleak cemetery. The back and forth guitar – synth solo is the cherry on top. Great song!
“Close the Gate” is off an album that better come out in 2021.
BUY: AMAZON.com / AMAZON.co.uk
Sister – Scream for Pleasure
No doubt about it, this is a heavy and dark tune, but, damn does it have a great hook. It’s brutal but catchy. “Scream for Pleasure” is a fast, intense rocker with amazing guitars and killer vocals. New guitarist Phil Armfelt shines in this song.
“Scream for Pleasure“ is off the Vengeance Ignited album expected in February 2021.
BUY: AMAZON.com / AMAZON.co.uk
Maverick – Switchblade Sister
“Switchblade Sister” is an anthemic treat. Maverick play melodic hard rock and know how to create a song with a hook, as demonstrated here. This is old school rock where the guitars are in the driver’s seat and the ride is loud and proud.
“Switchblade Sister” is off the Ethereality album expected in April 2021.
BUY: AMAZON.com / AMAZON.co.uk
Black Diamonds – Saturday
Black Diamonds have added a worthy addition to the classic weekend themed songs, ruled over by the Loverboy classic “Working for the Weekend“. This song is seriously just straight-up fun. Its awesomeness is enhanced by the fantastic video—South Park style—accompanying it. Cue it up about 4:45 on a Friday and see where it grabs you.
“Saturday” is off the No-Tell Hotel album available in March 2021.
BUY: AMAZON.com / AMAZON.co.uk
Lion’s Share – Killed By Death
As a musician, how do you celebrate the legacy of a legend? You cover one of their classics. There are two ways to go when you cover a classic, and fortunately, Lion’s Share went in the right direction. It’s a straight-forward cover without straying too much from the original. However, Lion’s Share does a great job of making it their own. These guys are veterans and really nailed this cover. Lemmy would raise a toast.
BUY: AMAZON.com / AMAZON.co.uk
Starscape – Not Built by Human Hands
This is definitely the most unique song in this batch of new tracks. I’m honestly not sure what to make of it. It has kind of a sci-fi vibe to it, almost feels like an early Judas Priest song, but mingled with a dash of Deep Purple. I love the keyboards as a whole on this song, especially the solo towards the end.
“Not Built by Human Hands” is off the Colony album available in February.
BUY: Bandcamp
Lords of Salem – Monster Girl
I love the relationship heavy metal has with horror, and it sounds like Lords of Salem do too. Who would’ve guessed from their name, right? This is a killer song with a 70s occult rock vibe.
“Monster Girl” is off the Hell Over Salem album available now.
BUY: Bandcamp
Silver Nightmares – Light Years Away
Silver Nightmares are out of Italy and, while I’m not much of a prog-rock guy, this song is pretty cool. The intro grabs you, clearly setting a sci-fi tone for the song. The vocals are reminiscent of some earlier Queensryche. The keyboards are moody and hold the song together. Overall, this is a solid track.
BUY: AMAZON.com / AMAZON.co.uk
American Bombshell – Blow
American Bombshell‘s version of “Blow“, a cover of the Ed Sheeran / Bruno Mars / Chris Stapleton song isn’t just groovy, it’s got a great story behind it. American Bombshell worked with a media and studio class at Butler University in Indiana to record the song. Bringing kick-ass rock and roll to future producers and music industry insiders is the Lord’s work, and the result was this great track.
BUY: AMAZON.com / AMAZON.co.uk /
The Handsome Dogs – Living a Lie
“Living a Lie” is the first look at what to expect for the upcoming second album from the German rockers. It’s a great hard rock song with an especially tasty solo. Clearly influenced by classic hard rock, The Handsome Dogs take no prisoners on this up-tempo track. If you’re in the neighbourhood and we’re blessed with some sense of normalcy, check them out a Rhön Rock Open Air in August.
“Living a Lie” is off the upcoming album expected in the summer of 2021.
Lÿnx – Rock ‘n’ Roll Tonight
“Rock ‘n’ Roll Tonight” is definitely a classic 80’s glam metal song, no way around it. It capably finds itself on the ever-expanding list of party anthem songs. The musicianship is solid, the singer brings it, and they have an umlaut in their name. What more could you possibly ask for?
