CGCM Rock Radio New Singles – December 1, 2021
(BEAVER BUZZ)
What better day to begin the CGCM Twelve days of Christmas than December 1, and what better gifts than twelve fresh new picks. We run the gamut this week from blues-based (Smith/Kotzen and Goodbye June), to glam rock (Mad Margritt and Crashdïet), to rock living more on the fringe (Square Wild and Gypsy Pistoleros).
This week we’re also featuring a couple of bands found on The Core Facebook. The Core features Unsigned and Independent Rock and Metal. Check out Spacegoat and The Fall of Me.
Better Days – Smith/Kotzen
The partnership between Adrian Smith and Richie Kotzen is like a rich, smooth whiskey. Unlike many collaborations, this one doesn’t feel forced at all. Just two guys playing incredible blues-based rock. “Better Days” is the title track from the EP released on Record Store Day 2021.
Livin La Vida Loca – Gypsy Pistoleros
Gypsy Pistoleros are actively shooting for a Christmas #1 song (not necessarily a Christmas song) with their latest single available on December 16. Here’s to beating Adele, Elton John, and Ed Sheeran, Pistoleros. All proceeds go to Shelter, an organization dedicated to help the homeless in the UK. As for the song, it’s a flamenco-sleaze take on the Ricky Martin earworm

Hounds – Square Wild
In a world where you hear much of the same stuff, even stuff you love, a unique approach to rock is worth your attention. Square Wild, hailing from Manchester, creates a one-of-a-kind sound. They remind me of Crown Lands in their willingness to get a little weird and psychedelic. Singer Lucy Shevchuk puts in incredible effort to stand out as much as she does among this talented crew.
Thief In The Night – Mad Margritt
Don’t sit on the new track tucked away on Mad Margritt‘s greatest hits package, Mad Margritt- Best of 1999-2021. “Thief In The Night” was recorded in the summer of 2021.
The Dark – Foust
Foust is all about heavy-hitting riffs, both grungy and melodic. The project begun by Chris Foust nails a soulful take on turn-of-the-century rock. The EP It’s a Vibe is available on December 3rd.

Parasite – The Fall of Me
The Fall of Me is certainly unique, and the single “Parasite” impressively lives up to the billed “dark, melodic metal band with a gothic flair.” We found this one on a great Facebook page for new and unsigned bands, The Core.
No Man’s Land – Crashdïet
The first track off the Swedish glam-sleaze of Crashdïet‘s upcoming album is due out March 18th, 2022 on Crusader / Golden Robot Records.

Children of the Night – Fortress
California’s Fortress pummels your ears with epic arena metal — think Dio or Queensrÿche. Fili Bibiano‘s excellent guitars on “Don’t Spare the Wicked” are all over the rest of the album of the same name, available now on Bandcamp.
Lets Go Again – Vardis
The radio-edited version of the live track by Vardis captures the gritty and energetic band from northern England. The Vardis 100M.P.H.@100CLUB double live album will be released on November 26th. Hit Buy below for the preorder link.

Dirty Fighter – Spacegoat
Australia delivers another great, heavy band with Bendigo’s Spacegoat. The in-your-face rock with attitude jumped off The Core Facebook page. “Dirty Fighter” is off the new EP Catharsis, released on October 8.

Driven – Shake The Temple
Melbourne’s Shake the Temple gives Australia even more to boast about. With a title like “Driven” I’m kinda hoping for something up-tempo, and they don’t disappoint.
Three Chords – Goodbye June
I can only describe Goodbye June as strutting southern rock oozing tons of soul. If that sounds like your slice of cornbread, dig in.
