CGCM Rock Radio New Singles – August 18, 2021
(BEAVER BUZZ)
Buzzsaw searched far and wide to bring back 11 kick-ass tracks from the worlds of hard rock, metal, and even a bit of punk. Far and wide means bands from all over the world (France, Canada, UK, USA, Sweden, and Siberia!). Highlights include Beaver Buzz favorites, The Metal Byrds with another track that hits on all that makes them one of the best rock bands around. Platinum Overdose makes their Beaver Buzz debut with an absolutely classic arena metal song.
Rock Lives In My Soul – Fury
Fury is joined by Kim Jennett on a blistering track about what it’s like to be judged by your looks alone. It’s a great metal song with fun back and forth between Jennett and lead vocalist Julian Jenkins.

Absolute – The Metal Byrds
That sweet Sly Rye tone lends just a touch of psychedelia to the latest from The Metal Byrds. Unlike most drinking songs, “Absolute” spends a bit of time with the consequences, but it doesn’t take away from the fun.
Downtown – Unto Others
I am so hooked on Unto Others goth metal vibe. With “Downtown” they deliver a catchy, dark visit to the city. The gents from Portland are doing an amazing job teasing their Roadrunner debut, Strength.

Rock N’ Roll Rodeo (Standing On The Edge Of The Night) – Platinum Overdose
And on the other end of the spectrum, further south on the West Coast, we have the glam and glitz of Platinum Overdose. Their latest track is an absolute gem of a Sunset Strip track.
Iron Will – Blacksword
I love the badass name, Blacksword! They back it up with exactly what you’d expect. This metal band from Siberia is super tight and hits all the right riffs.
Ghost in a Bottle – Stone Cold Crows
Stone Cold Crows bring their infectious blend of rock and film score, or as they put it: “Film score with balls.” This one is pretty much a straight-up rocker with horns helping to elevate.

Wild Hearses– Lucifer
When it comes to eerie throwbacks to the early days of metal, nobody does it better than Lucifer right now. They’ve had a pretty busy year releasing a string of covers and collaborations, but it looks like they saved the best of their psychedelic Hammer Films approach for the upcoming album

Drive – Heaven & Earth
Frontiers puts out a lot of melodic rock, and this one immediately caught Buzzsaw‘s attention. There’s no way around stating the obvious, “Drive” is an amazing driving song. It’s got a great wind in your hair – or bald head – feel.

Rock Me Harder – Rockborn
Hurtling out of the American Southwest, Rockborn‘s “Rock Me Harder” is a great track, especially if your taste in lyrics has a bit of a KISS lean.

Obey / Annihilate – Iron Lizard
This French three-piece is furious. To me, they sound like Motorhead clashing in a cage match with Black Flag and Turbonegro. That’s a great thing, trust me.

Wannabe – Cassidy Paris
Rock and Roll is in great hands with Cassidy Paris out of Australia. “Wannabe” should come with a warning about getting stuck in your head on first listen.
