CGCM Rock Radio New Singles – April 14, 2021 (BEAVER BUZZ)
We’re featuring some great new tracks this week from the united pumpkins of Helloween, to the ferocious metal of Manimal, to reliably fantastic German outfit The Handsome Dogs. The Black Spiders, Massive Wagons, SKAM, and 5 Star Hooker deliver the kind of rock that knows that summer is just around the corner.
Skyfall – Helloween
Fans of Helloween have been waiting for this song for a long time, and the wait has been well worth it. The success of Pumpkins United brings together three singers from three different eras, plus enough solos all around for everyone to have a go. The song is truly epic and, since it’s the radio edit, we’ve got five more minutes of this beauty on the album. Amazingly the three singers with their own distinct styles don’t seem at all out of place. Brilliantly written by Kai Hansen, each singer’s part seems written for their personal approach. This song is an 11.

American Dream – The Handsome Dogs
The Handsome Dogs take a pretty stark look at what has become of the “American Dream“. This band is super tight and you should check out the video, which is really well done. After previously hearing “Living a Lie” and now this golden hard rock nugget, I’m waiting patiently for more music from Portner, Potens, Lunova, and Jung.
“American Dream” is a stand-alone single.
Changes – Massive Wagons
Massive Wagons are back with a very Wagon-esque anthem. These lads sound like they’re having as much fun as they clearly are on the pitch in the video. “Changes” is yet another catchy rock song, this time in the form of an ode to their fans and history.

Fly in the Soup – Black Spiders
A little punky, a little power poppy, and all rock and roll, “Fly in Your Soup” is indelible. Having checked them out on Bandcamp, I can say that if you like this song, you’ll not only be in good company with me, but you’ll love the album.

Forged In Metal – Manimal
Like the title says, this song is “Forged in Metal“. It’s absolute metal mayhem, with a nod to Judas Priest at their most metal. All the elements—metal, chains, big riffs, driving drums, makeup, skulls, and fire—forge some heavy fucking metal.
“Forged in Metal” is off an upcoming album available later in 2021.

Wake Up – SKAM
SKAM, a card-carrying member of the New Wave of Classic rock delivers a standout track rooted in the 70s and 80s. Their Intra EP is full of similar hard rocking treats, especially the more Alice in Chains inspired “One Track Mind“.

Anything Goes – 5 Star Hooker
This, my friends, is how you rock your way into earning the name 5 Star Hooker. The gritty bass and drum intro heralds a killer riff, followed by the voice of Garth Remick, swinging between a gravelly Udo and more controlled Sebastian Bach.

Skyfall is amazing can’t wait for that album. Also need to check out Manimal, never heard of them before.
As you can tell, I really dug Skyfall!
Manimal grew on me a bit, but the song is definitely a monster.
