KERRY KING – From Hell I Rise Tour 2025 – Calgary (Concert Blog)

KERRY KING - From Hell I Rise Tour 2025 - Calgary (Concert Blog)Kerry King brought the North American Tour to Calgary, AB on Jan 22nd, 2025 at The Palace Theatre. Kerry King has been mostly known for his 44 years with the thrash metal band Slayer to which he is only one of the remaining founding members of the band. Slayer took a hiatus from 2019 to 2024 when Kerry King formed a solo band and created his solo release From Hell I Rise.

Kerry King and his band brought the show mid-week and they were there to destroy or to at least blow the roof off the Palace Theatre in Calgary, Alberta. The near-sold-out show was loud and proud and the fans were there to show they were ready to rock, crowd surf and to mosh.

Kerry and his band were there to show off the solo project and they did it extremely well the crowd ate it up and wanted more. Kerry King and the band came out to the stage lighting adorned in nothing but red where they started the setlist with the 2nd track from the solo release From Hell I Rise. The band tore through the tracks from the solo album until they hit the crowd with a Slayer track “Repentless” and then continued to demonstrate the next 3 tracks off the current From Hell I Rise album. They mixed up the next 3 tracks with a Slayer track and 2 covers of Iron Maiden. They hit back with a couple more newer tracks followed by Slayer classic tunes. They ended the night with the title track From Hell I Rise to finish out the amazing set list that took you on a journey of hard-hitting tunes from Slayer over the years and mixed it well with the tracks from the most current release from Kerry King From Hell I Rise.

Kerry King has brought together an amazing group of musicians and they showcased the talent these players have together. The band played like a band who has been together for years on and off stage. You got to hear Kerry King make his guitar almost sing, while hearing the crushing voice of Mark Osegueda previously of Death Angel, then to find off in the dark of the stage Paul Bostaph on drums keeping the beat and the band on their toes, on the other side of the stage was Phil Demmel previously from Machine Head making his guitar soar like an eagle, Kyle Sanders was tossing his bass like a match stick keeping the beat going.

This was the 1st time I had seen Kerry King on stage and I walked away from the show in true amazement. Kerry King is an insanely talented guitarist and he has brought together some of the industry’s best players to form an amazing solo band. Hopefully, there is a sophomore album in the works with this band.
