HEADLONG INTO 2019 – Reflections of The Meister (Blog)

Headlong into 2019Just some blog-style reflection of The Meister here as we go Headlong into 2019. As many friends and even listeners to the CGCM podcast may have heard mention of, 2017 was without any doubt, the worst year of my life. Not just a bad incident or two, but the whole damn 365 days. I’ll not go into sordid details here but let’s just say I was beyond unhappy. It’s certainly a massive thanks to Wally Norton and our little baby, the CGCM Podcast that helped get me through. Along with many concerts, the experience with Diemonds in UK/Hair Metal Heaven Festival, and the sometimes unspoken, but always there, support of friends. And of course, my beloved music provided the soundtrack without which I wouldn’t have made it!

I refused to sink that low again! For whatever the reason! I’m quite a strong-willed and stubborn bastard when I want to be. Well, it’s a bit of an Aries trait I guess. Thankfully, 2018 was a completely different experience. I went into the year with a voracity and positivity that surprised even me. Make no mistake, of course, not every day was complete sunshine and roses, but it’s been an awesome year!

Above all, I made better, stronger relationships with friends. Also, I welcomed many new folks into my worldwide family. And even a truly amazing newcomer into the circle of extreme trust and absolute caring. You have affected and opened my eyes so much, Thank-you! You know who you are! It’s beyond heartwarming for me to know that no matter where I am or the distance that spans between us, that I have real and true friends spread around the globe.

Through it all, I learned about myself. I will never stop learning, recreating and trying to be a better human. Enjoy life as much as you can.

2018 Musically

2018 found me upping my already over the top concert travel. Well, some say over the top. I say severely under the bar! February saw me aboard the MORC Cruise for my eighth straight voyage. I completed a 4 night, 4 show, 4 city stalking tour of my beloved Lady Beast through the midwest USA. March had me flying to Baltimore for Shokker at the MPRE Party (yes, that’s right, just the one day not the whole M3 Festival). In May I was at Legions of Metal Festival in Chicago for the second year.

And a couple of weeks later it was off to Sweden for the concert of my life, Little Caesar! And for MelodicRock Fest Scandinavia. Then staying in Sweden for my sixth Sweden Rock Festival. September saw the failure of the Hair Metal Heaven (no surprise) event but making the best of things a friend and I still visited London, UK. We were able to squeeze in a couple concerts make no mistake.

Then later in August, I found myself at Nashville Rock n Pod representing CGCM Podcast along with co-host Wally. October was Frost & Fire Festival in Ventura California. December was an 11-day long jam-packed trip starting with HEAT Festival and ending in Norway.

Headlong Into 2019:

Looking ahead into 2019 I already have several major events on tap. First up is making a dream of my aging mother’s come true with a trip to Walt Disney World. Then it’s setting sail on my ninth Monsters of Rock voyage followed by a road trip to New Orleans. April will find me at Stockholm Rock City. Back across the pond again at the end of May for Call of the Wild Festival. Then Sweden Rock round #7 in early June. The inaugural Metal Immortal Fest on June 29. Two Hard Rock Hell events: HRH Sleaze in August and HRH XIII in November. Then I will wrap up 2019 again at Germany’s HEAT Festival. A busy year, but as you can see there is some space between Sweden Rock and HRH….hhhhmmmm. Any ideas (any money)?

See you all out there somewhere on the road!

Cheers,

The Meister

  1. Well like I always say once you hit bottom you’ve nowhere to go but up. I m glad 2018 was an uplifting year for you. I wish you many of the same in 2019 and I look forward too listening to you and Wally whenever your episodes come out. Maybe someday we can meet at a Toronto show and grab a beer! Peace and happy 2019!
