I discovered Eleine back in 2016 while going through the Sweden Rock Festival website. I wanted to experience some of the bands that were unknown to me while at my first Sweden Rock. I fell in love with Sweden Rock and have gone every year except of course those 2 years COVID robbed us of this extraordinary event. I came across the band Eleine, which was formed in 2014, and of course, she just happened to be a beautiful woman in a Bellydance outfit. Well if you know me, I am very familiar with Bellydance since my wife has been a bellydancer for a number of years. Listening to some sound clips of Eleine I was intrigued to find out more about this incredible band. At that time, I was writing, photographing, and interviewing for Decibel Geek, so I contacted the lead singer Madeleine. She responded right away, and we set up an interview at Sweden Rock 2016.
My fellow writer Rich “The Meister“ Dillon and I had the chance to meet up with Eleine, and the interview went well at first. We then found out the recorder had stopped halfway through, but we made the best of it.
After seeing Eleine’s awesome live show, I knew this band was going places and would eventually get picked up by a label. So many labels made the mistake of not signing this Swedish band. As of today, Eleine has released 3 studio albums and 2 EPs. I had a chance to see and photograph them again for CGCM Rock Radio in 2022 at Sweden Rock as they have been playing all over Europe. In January 2023 they finally get to touch down in North America since their invitation to play on the 70,000 tons of Metal Cruise was a huge success. This is what their fans on this side of the world have been waiting for, a North American tour. USA and Canada will finally get the chance to see Eleine as they open for Moonspell from Portugal celebrating their 30th Anniversary. It was disappointing that Toronto Canada is not getting this tour, so it looks like we are off to Montreal for a weekend in May.
