**This is my story. My personal journal account of time at the festival, my thoughts and feelings. This is not a technical review of gigs, but more of a story telling my experiences and activities of attending Time To Rock Festival 2025. Hopefully, this will help inspire your attendance in 2026. Feel free to reach out to me with any questions.**
I first saw Cobra Spell on stage at Headbangers Open Air in 2023. I’d known the band previous to that, loving the Anthems Of The Night EP. The ladies, though now the lineup is different, put on a great show at HOA. Band leader, guitarist and composer Sonia Anubis even shared one of my captures of her from that festival. The first artist to share one of my photos! Today, the band features only Sonia and vocalist Kristina Vega from Headbangers Open Air. Now we see Hale Naphtha behind the kit with rhythm section partner, Bel Mena, on bass. The second guitar is currently held down by Sonia‘s husband, Adri Funérailles. Now they also have the late-2023 released 666 album’s worth of material to add into the repertoire.
COBRA SPELL START WITH HIGH ENERGY
Taking the stage in a flurry of motion and energy behind a recorded intro, Cobra Spell launched into “The Devil Inside Of Me“. Sonia and Kristina were running, jumping and dancing making for fun, but difficult photo captures. “Satan is a Woman” came next, followed with “Bad Girl Crew“. During “S.E.X.“, Sonia and Adri crisscrossed back and forth across the stage several times, meeting for solos. To me, it seemed that the bass player, Bel, having only joined as a live player earlier in 2025, might be a bit of an outsider. Or just not yet comfortable, almost timid. But during “Love Crime“, she did come up front and center stage, Kristina hot on her heels, maybe propelling her a little.
But now we also get quad-choreographed headbands, a page right out of the KISS handbook, during the song “Poison Bite” before “You’re A Cheater” finds its way into the set. Kristina introduced “Love = Love” as “a slower song, a song for all those who are different“. “High On Love” followed and during “Warrior From Hell“, Kris invited the crowd to kneel down. Apparently, she doesn’t know that I’m an old man and will struggle to stand again….lol.
COBRA SPELL FINISH WITH HIGHER ENERGY
Things really accelerated up a notch with “Accelerate” (yes, bad pun on purpose!) and closed with “Addicted To The Night“. I loved the Anthems Of The Night EP, as I said earlier. On the EP, the vocals were handled by Alexx Panza from Hitten, another great band, before Miss Vega joined the Cobra Spell family. I also love those songs, but I also love hearing Kristina supply her take on them. I haven’t yet heard the EP Anthems Of The Venomous Hearts from earlier this year, which features re-recorded versions of the songs with Kris‘ vocals.
A super fun set featuring a lot of stage activity and some great songs. And again, Sonia has shared at least two of my captures of her on stage! Cheers for that, Sonia, thanks for the shares and for the show!
