BILLY IDOL – Rogers Place Edmonton (Concert Review)

BILLY IDOL - Rogers Place Edmonton (Concert Review)Billy Idol brought the Rebel Yell Tour to Edmonton, AB, on August 1st,2024, at Rogers Place. Billy Idol has made the statement that he has a soft spot for Canada as it helped him break out in his home country as Canada put his classic hits on the charts before his home country. You could tell Billy enjoyed playing to the Edmonton crowd he was full of smirks, sneers and smiles all night long and he engaged with the crowd non-stop from throwing out his own stage-worn t-shirt into the crowd after signing it to other pre-signed setlists or Billy Idol drumheads.

The crowd saw a setlist cover all the classic tracks from when Billy Idol first started out under the moniker of Generation X to Billy Idol solo material. The crowd saw Billy Idol bound from one side of the stage to the other all night long, not stopping too long in one place before zipping off somewhere else. Billy Idol for being 69 years old does not look his age. Billy Idol‘s touring band is amazing as you have the one and only Steve Stevens (Guitars), Billy Morrison (Rhythm Guitar), Stephen McGrath (Bass), Erik Eldenius (Drums), and Paul Trudeau (Keyboards).

Billy Idol and his band tore through the hits and didn’t miss a beat. If you want to get sweaty well go to a Billy Idol concert because he had the crowd on their feet singing and dancing the night away. Billy Idol isn’t afraid to showcase the great touring band he has put together as he constantly lets them shine in the spotlight and shakes his head in disbelief at what he is hearing. Steve Stevens is given two guitar solos throughout the night’s setlist where you see him take on two different styles. One where it is more a mariachi feel style to the other where you just have a blistering solo that can melt your face off. Billy Idol is full of smiles all night long as he teases and plays with the crowd to where he is constantly interacting with the members of his band. You can see on the stage the strong friendship or camaraderie the band shares and feels.

If you want a night of fun rock n roll well I would suggest hitting up a Billy Idol concert, it will have you singing and smiling and re-living your youth hearing all these classic tracks.
