A ROCKIN’ HALLOWEEN – Piranha Bar, Quebec (Concert Review)

Hello ladies and gentlemen, I hope you enjoyed your Halloween party night as much as I did! Tonight I have a treat for you! New discoveries in the world of Hard Rock!!

As you know I have written a few times about Playhouse! They were host of this wonderful event. They invited a few bands to play along with them, and all of them were one fantastic!  The openers for Playhouse were The OutLiars, Dirty Cheat and Late Night Trouble!

The OutLiars

Unfortunately, Due to my tardiness, mostly because of downtown parking and wardrobe malfunction (Putting on my costume) I arrived late and missed the first showing, The OutLiars. I asked around and I was told they were really good! So I did a little research as I write this article and Holy Shit!!! They are really good!  I missed them… Now I feel bad.

Anyhow, I got in contact with Danny Rossi, lead vocalist, and he gave me a little bit of info. We have John Serino on guitar, Jean Etienne Sheehy on bass, Brandon Mignacca on keyboard and Maxx Zinno on drums.

Their song “Light Me Up (Enjoy the Ride)” is really good and is produced by none other than Kevin Jardine. There will be more news to unravel on these guys soon enough.  I will catch them live soon enough. Danni Rossi has is own solo project as well as John Serino. Here is more information on them.

Dirty Cheat

I walked into Piranha Bar while Dirty Cheat were setting up on stage and I didn’t know what to expect. Interestingly enough I knew Pat White, the bassist, as I had met him through a mutual friend of ours. Sonja who had joined me for the Rammstein concert introduced us, he and his friends were actually a few feet away from us. What are the odds? It was meant to be! So the Gods willed it!

The band got on stage and rocked the house! Mary Auclair‘s vocals were very powerful as she engaged the crowd. Man can she sing! Jean-Seb Jourdain‘s guitar playing was so damn good! Andres Fierro on drums did his magic and I really enjoyed their music.

I never heard them play before and they were an instant like. This is some CGCM material for sure. I must see these live guys again.  With songs like “Pigs in Underwear”, “In The Name of God”, “Fancy Ball”, “Dance Naked”, you will find out how good these guys are. I wish they had an E.P. in C.D. format out, so I could have purchased it.  Although you can buy their material online, I really highly recommend it!

Late Night Trouble

After Dirty Cheat ended their segment the crowd was pumped, the Piranha Bar was filling up. The ext band up was Late Night Trouble. On stage they came and Trouble did come!! In a good way!

Sebastien Marois, guitar and vocals gave a little speech to crank up the crowd, Cheers were loud from the roaring rock fans! Sitting in the back on drums was Pierre Luc and on bass was Alexandre Canuel. They were already rocking out, but someone was missing!… Oh yeah, the lead singer!… Where was…… Supergirl!!!?

Roxanne Paris jumped on stage and she was as pumped as the crowd, full of energy. She was electric and she zapped the crowd in her web of lightning. Paris captivated everyone, she jumped off the stage a few times and sang with her fans, there was not a moment where she was still. She fed the audience and we were all very satisfied. Her band members were equally energized as well they gave the people a taste of rock n roll. The crowd danced the night away to Late Night Trouble.

Who could have asked for a better night? We all had an absolute blast. I had invited some friends from the gym, I was worried they wouldn’t enjoy the night, but I turned around and spotted them smiling dancing and bobbing their heads like everyone else. It was reassuring. The energy that Late Night Trouble gave was wonderful, The night’s energy kept escalating. Preparing for what was about to come.  If you want to know more about Late Night Trouble here are some links.

PlayHouse

I have to give a huge thanks to PlayHouse for inviting me. They got these great local bands to make this party happen. PlayHouse are a great bunch of guys, they always bring a party to the table! I have already mentioned them many times before in my reviews, and this won’t be the last time either.

The house was packed by the time they got on stage. Alain Londero is the sound guy and probably the best on the Island of Montreal. He is one reason why so many musicians sound so good.  The volume was turned up a notch for PlayHouse, Luckily I had my earplugs. After hearing them live for the third time you do learn something hahaha. As per tradition, PlayHouse finished off the night with “Rock N’ Roll All Nite”. What made the closing song even better, Supergirl Roxanne Paris hopped on stage and sang with Peter Cat!  What a night it was!
