30 Years of Brighton Rock

Brighton Rock 30th AnniversaryCanadian band Brighton Rock has been a part of my musical landscape since as long as I can remember, well let’s face it, I often struggle to remember what breakfast consisted of these days….lol. From catching their video on MuchMusic (the Canadian MTV) to sitting crossed-legged on the floor staring at the album cover and reading every letter of the English alphabet printed on the inner sleeve as the vinyl spun in circles on the turntable, I’ve come a long way. In the last few years, thanks largely to Decibel Geek, I have not only witnessed the band rip up the stage in live concerts in which vocalist Gerry McGhee may just be sounding even better than he did 30 years ago to interviewing the band, recording a podcast together and dare I say even becoming friends with a couple of the guys! Here’s the links to some Decibel Geek Brighton Rock coverage for those that missed it originally or those looking to expand their musical library and discover this hard rock band born in Niagara Falls, Ontario: Podcast – A Brighton Rock Takeover / Concert Review – Power Overload with Brighton Rock / Gerry McGhee Interview & Concert Review – Brighton Rock Unleash the Rage.

Now here’s your chance to make your mark so to speak and catch these guys live in concert. Brighton Rock are celebrating the 30th anniversary of their debut full-length album, Young, Wild & Free, with a concert in Hamilton (The Hammer), Ontario, the first time the band have visited the steel city in over 25 years! This historic concert event will be seeing the original members, Gerry McGhee (vocals), Greg Fraser (guitar), Mark Cavarzan (drums), Stevie Skreebs (bass) and Johnny Rogers (keys/guitar) on stage at The Molson Canadian Studio at Hamilton Place in the city’s downtown core on April 29, 2016.

Blacken’d Red have been together for eight years and are calling it quits with this final performance on stage while Sarasin was born in the eighties and seem to be hitting stride now with their self-titled CD release and record deal with Pure Steel of Germany.
